Welcome to Dystopia

Unprecedented Times is a fast paced card game designed to keep 3-6 people* entertained for around 30 minutes at a time.  It requires just enough strategy to offer the illusion of control and can be played as a quick "appetizer" game or extended to fill hours with the slow extinction of mankind.

The objective is to be the last player standing.  But you say “How do we do this? How do we achieve ultimate victory?” You grow your population, protecting them from the plague and unprovoked attacks of other nations. You “proactively retaliate” against those who would do you harm or compete for precious resources. You stir up conflicts between your rivals allowing them to do the dirty work while your hands remain spotless. Now go out there and make Machiavelli proud!

The game begins with the onset of COVID-19 and progresses through the evolution of the pandemic.  You start each round by rolling the dice to determine what impact the virus has had on your population since your last turn.  Next you play a card from your hand to either grow and protect your population or do harm to your enemies. Finally, you weather the attacks of the other players and try to survive to your next turn.  

But wait, there's more!  When a player is eliminated from the game, they get to take one final shot at their adversaries.  If they are able to kill off the last player then they have achieved legendary revenge, are posthumously declared the winner and inspire the cockroaches to build monuments praising them as they work to rebuild society.

*The term People refers to anyone who has survived at least 13 years on this planet.  Those who have not yet unlocked this achievement may be permanently damaged by the alternate reality reflected by this game and should really stick to more wholesome activities like reciting nursery rhymes about the Bubonic plague or cradles tumbling from tree boughs...
